Summary
Led by the Research Cybersecurity and Compliance team from UBC Advanced Research Computing, this webinar will introduce core principles of cybersecurity for research and provide practical guidance for tasks such as data transfers, application development and remote data collection. Participants will also learn about services and resources to support compliance with requirements that support cybersecurity best practices, to reduce risk and make informed decisions in an increasingly complex digital landscape.

Jessica Galo is a Research Cybersecurity and Compliance Specialist with the UBC Advanced Research Computing (ARC) and is a member of the Training and Awareness Working group with the Digital Research Alliance of Canada. At ARC, Jessica is involved in research cybersecurity and privacy assessments and consultation and training. Jessica holds a Canadian Institute of Access and Privacy Professionals (CIAPP) – Professional designation as well as an ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) designation.

Scott Baker manages the Research Cybersecurity and Compliance team at UBC Advanced Research Computing and is a member of the program leadership committee for Privacy & Information Security Management at UBC. He also chairs the governance and policy working group of the National Security Council of the Digital Research Alliance of Canada.
