Welcome to the 2021 Research Computing Bootcamp!
Connecting to the Bootcamp Sessions:
This bootcamp will be delivered virtually via Zoom. Zoom links will be sent to all registered email addresses one business day prior to the day of the course. If you haven't received your Zoom link information prior to the beginning of the program, check your Junk or Spam filters to ensure your email program hasn't filtered the message from your inbox. If you have further issues with connecting to the sessions, please email kamil.somaratne@ubc.ca.
Registration:
Please register using our registration form for all sessions.
NOTE: Please register with your INSTITUTIONAL EMAIL ADDRESS (not a personal email address, e.g., gmail, etc.), so that we can verify you are a researcher, student, or staff member at a Canadian post-secondary institution or research organization.
The Research Computing Bootcamp is open to researchers, students and staff from post-secondary institutions and research organizations from across Canada. Researchers of all disciplines and skill levels are welcome to participate in these sessions.
Interactive Sessions:
Attendance at interactive sessions (i.e., Introduction to High-Performance Computing and Intermediate High-Performance Computing) is limited to 50 participants and only the first 50 registrants will be provided with access to these sessions.
Please note that the interactive sessions are at capacity. ARC will look at offering these sessions again at a later date. Registration for the remaining sessions is still open.
Campus-Wide Login (CWL) for Interactive Sessions:
All participants must have an Enhanced CWL, as well as a device for authenticating ready during the session. More information on Enhanced CWL can be found here, as well as instructions for enrolling: https://privacymatters.ubc.ca/learn-about-enhancedcwl
TIme Zone:
Please note that this program will follow the Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) or UTC-07.00.
Tips for using Zoom:
UBC ARC advises all participants to use a dual-screen setup if possible to allow the presenter’s materials to display on one screen and the workspace on another. A good headset/microphone is recommended and participants are asked to mute themselves during sessions unless asking a question.
