United Nations History Project

The UN History Project aims to encourage work on the history of international organizations by providing resources for scholars, teachers, students, and the general public.

The website offers extensive guides to archives and online sources. Leading scholars have written about their experiences working in UN archives and discuss further research possibilities. Finally, the site provides a set of research and teaching materials for UN history through annotated bibliographies, timelines, and featured sources on thirteen major themes of UN history.

The site also has accompanying social media channels on Facebook and Twitter. Here we live tweet the founding of the UN, seventy years later.

The project was made possible by the generous support of the United Nations Foundation, and was completed in cooperation with the Harvard Asia Center and the Joint Center for History and Economics.
