ARC will be upgrading the Sockeye System’s operating system beginning Wednesday, June 26 2024. A scheduled three-day outage has been planned to facilitate the necessary work for this extensive upgrade.
Sockeye will be offline during the following times:
Start time: 9:00 AM PT, Wednesday, June 26 2024
End time: 18:00 PM PT, Friday, June 28 2024
Expected Impact:
- Sockeye Operating System upgraded from Enterprise Linux 7 (EL7) to Enterprise Linux 9 (EL9)
- All scheduled jobs will be deleted and must be resubmitted post-upgrade
- Please note: Job scripts not updated prior to Wednesday, June 26 may not function post-upgrade
Required User Actions:
Sockeye users are asked to take note of the following actions before Wednesday, June 26 to ensure optimal user experience post-upgrade:
- All Sockeye users need to test job scripts for compatibility
- Conda and MPI users to rebuild software using ARC-supplied MPI libraries; a test environment will be made available to users who require testing
- Validate host key fingerprint on SSH client – instructions here
- All users, where possible, to containerize software using Apptainer to mitigate potential issues
Adjustments must be finalized before Wednesday, June 26 to ensure a seamless transition.
