The Genome Sciences Centre, the Vancouver Bioinformatics Users Group (VanBUG), and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) are pleased to offer a workshop on the Ensembl Genome Browseron October 23-24, 2016. The workshop will be hosted at the University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus.
Ensembl, a joint scientific project between the European Bioinformatics Institute and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, is a genome browser for vertebrate genomes that supports research in comparative genomics, evolution, sequence variation and transcriptional regulation. Ensembl annotate genes, computes multiple alignments, predicts regulatory function and collects disease data.
The main focus of this workshop will be on the effective use of the Ensembl browser, types of data in Ensembl, and how to access the data in hands-on sessions. You will need to bring a laptop for this workshop. To register, please fill out this online form. For information and to register, please visit their website.
