Introduction to Cloud Computing

Session Overview:
This session provides an introduction to the cloud resources available to UBC researchers. The course covers the fundamentals of cloud computing and its applications in supporting research activities. It highlights the Digital Research Alliance of Canada (the Alliance) community cloud and the UBC Hybrid Cloud service, which offers access to commercial cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain the basics of cloud computing
  • Identify the cloud resources available to UBC researchers
  • Describe how to get started using the Alliance cloud
