Visualization Webinar: CPU-based Rendering with OSPRay - Sept. 28

Date: Wednesday, Sept 28
Location: Online

Speaker Info:
Alex Razoumov
WestGrid Visualization Coordinator
Compute Canada

In this webinar we'll work with OSPRay, Intel's scalable open-source library for ray tracing on CPUs that can be used on anything from laptops to HPC clusters. OSPRay can provide very fast rendering on systems that don't have GPUs, making it possible to produce high-fidelity visualizations on the same general CPU nodes you use for running your simulations. Popular 3D visualization packages (ParaView, VisIT, VMD) now support OSPRay rendering. We will take a look at OSPRay inside ParaView both on a laptop and on a GPU-less cluster node, discuss benchmarks and compare the resulting images built with and without the OSPRay engine.

Prerequisite Knowledge and Requirements:

No prior knowledge of or experience with OSPRay is necessary.

Who Should Attend:

Anyone interested in data visualization tools is welcome to attend.
This session is open to all faculty, students and staff in any discipline.
